Soundbwoy Destiny är en 10-årig historia som oftast handlar om reggae och dancehall med en hel truck-load dubplates och en mycket karismatisk partymaskin till MC. Denna kväll kommer dom dessutom leverera en rejäl dos hiphop-anthems och Rnb-klassiker.

SOUNDBWOYS DESTINY Frankfurt Germany
Roots
The Soundbwoys Destiny soundsystem was founded in summer 2000, on the shared passion of its four original members for reggae and dancehall music. Until then, those genres of music had not been very widespread in Frankfurt. The first parties took place wherever there were opportunities, from public places to private living rooms. Within months, their reputation had catapulted, culminating in a first club gig in the autumn of 2000.
Soundsystem
The crew operates in the style of the Jamaican Yard sound. Jamaican music is very much about live performance, with the recorded music forming only one part of a larger equation. A typical soundsystem comprises a selector’ who mixes vinyls (mostly Jamaican seven-inches at 45 revolutions per minute) at great speed, and an
‘MC’, whose main role is to entertain and communicate with the audience, using catchphrases that are designed to grab the dancers’ attention and create a more exciting live setting. The audience (also called ‘massive’) participation then makes for an atmosphere that is distinctly lively and enjoyable.
Style
A key principle in creating that atmosphere is to play Caribbean music in all its variations. This is what can be heard at the Soundbwoys Destiny’s dances, which by now had numbered over 150. The (now five) members of Soundbwoys Destiny constantly search for records in cities all over the world including Kingston, London and Frankfurt, to keep up with the ever-changing Jamaican sound. There is no doubt that the sound crew can offer a huge selection with a great variety of club hits. Always on the cutting edge of its genre, the selection includes oldies from the early beginnings of reggae, from over 30 years ago, brand-new dancehall, traditional “roots’n’culture” reggae music, and even hip-hop and soca. Soundbwoys Destiny also boast numerous dubplates that were specially made for them by artists such as T.O.K, Beenieman, Gregory Isaacs and Capleton.
Future
Since 2002, Soundbwoys Destiny have been holding a residency at the Frankfurt club ‘O 25’. Every fortnight they present a club night called ‘Master Blaster’. CeCile (JA), T.O.K. & Red Rat (JA), Killamanjaro (JA), David Rogdigan (UK) Massive B. (USA), Soundquake and Pow Pow Movement (GER) are some of the many stars that have performed alongside Soundbwoys Destiny on these nights. Their growing reputation has seen them travel to various cities throughout Germany to spread their sound.
In spite of their success, the Crew’s endless commitment and love to Jamaican music has never diminish
